Reprogram Your Unconscious Mind

unconscious mindFrom before birth, you absorbed everything around you without discrimination until about age 6 when your brain waves shifted. In essence, the child inside is still running the show. Below are several ways you can reprogram your unconscious directly based on the latest brain research of neural plasticity.

Do a “brain dump”. Write down all your thoughts without censoring them. Record every belief, doubt or fear that comes to mind whether or not you think it’s true. Spend as much time doing this as you have thoughts that come into your head. Your brain actually sees this list of beliefs when you write them down & it will pay attention.

When done, stand up, move around, take 3 deep breaths, stretch & yawn to become fully present. This technique turns on your frontal lobes (the more creative part of the brain.) Next, reflect on each old, negative belief that you wrote & make a choice to release it (this activates your will & aligns it with your purpose).

Now you’re ready to reframe it. Turn the negative beliefs into positive statements that you would rather have. For example, if you wrote, “I’m not smart enough to make more money” change it to read, “I have everything I need inside me to double (or triple) my income.” If you wrote, “I’m afraid I’ll be alone the rest of my life.” Reframe it to, “I deserve to love and be loved each & every day of my life.” State it in present time. If you write 5 positive statements for each negative one, it will change the outmoded/old belief. Repeat this process as necessary.

Another way to positively impact your unconscious is to list all the qualities in life that you value most. For example, do you value your family & friends, time alone, fun, creativity, good health, meditation, making things with your hands, spirituality, learning, deep philosophical discussions, love, peace, etc? Again, write everything down. When you feel complete, go over the list & prioritize them with the highest being first, second and third and the less important ones ranking fourth through five or ten.

Each day choose one value as a specific goal. For example, “My deepest value for today is to spend quality time with the people I love, so I will really listen to them closely.” Or, “My deepest value for today is my health, therefore, I’m going to exercise & eat fresh produce.” Write it down 2 or 3 times & it will stimulate you to take action. People who wrote their goals down had achieved them 50% more of the time than those who didn’t.

Also, once you know what you value most, you can make decisions that align with those values quickly & easily. That reduces internal conflicts & confusion caused by opposing choices based on whatever you’re feeling in the moment.

Gratitude is the best attitude. When you take the time to appreciate all the good that you have in your life now, it turns on the reward center in your brain & turns off negativity. Get into the habit of being grateful for all the small gifts in your life as well as the larger ones. Before you get out of bed in the morning, count your blessings. Before you fall asleep at night, list all the things you’re grateful for so that you feel gratitude in your heart. This can bring you immense satisfaction along with greater abundance. The more you appreciate what you already have, the more good you can magnetize into your life and the happier you will feel.
